Doginal Dogs 101: What Doginals Are and Why the Pack Cares

Whenever someone new lands in the Doginal Dogs community, the same questions come up. What is a Doginal? Is it an NFT? Why do people care so much about 10,000 pixel dogs? Here is a plain answer, with sources at the bottom so you can check everything yourself.

What is a Doginal?

"Doginals" is the name for data, like an image or some text, written directly into transactions on the Dogecoin blockchain. It is Dogecoin's version of the idea behind Bitcoin Ordinals.

Doginals are not Ethereum-style smart contract NFTs. After a transaction confirms, software called an indexer reads the chain, spots the inscription, and keeps track of who owns what. Wallets and marketplaces rely on those indexers to show you your items. doginals.com, an independent encyclopedia, puts it this way: there is no single registry contract, and agreement comes from the indexers.

What is Doginal Dogs?

Doginal Dogs is one specific collection. It is not the name of the technology. The collection is 10,000 pixel dogs inscribed on Dogecoin, and the project says every one was hand-curated.

According to the project's About page, the story started in November 2023, when Bark wanted a pixel art version of his dog Atlas. The team first generated 30,000 dogs, cut that to 15,000, then trimmed to 10,000, adding dozens of handmade dogs to reach the total.

The mint happened on January 11, 2024. It was free, and the team covered the inscription costs. For the whitelist, the founders chose the first five holders, and each of them picked three more, and so on until the list hit 5,000 spots.

Why the community cares

The art is only part of it. The project describes itself as a global media brand with live events, merch, and digital content. Its homepage says more than 20 events have been completed internationally, and it currently promotes DDMiami 2026.

There is also a trading card game. On October 24, 2026, Legends TCG announced its first official Championship, an in-person tournament for top Doginal Dogs Legends players from around the world.

As a community builder, the people side is what interests me most. The project calls its community free and open to everyone, and that open door is a big part of the appeal.

A few things to know before you dive in

  • Check every link. doginals.com warns that phishing is common. Stick to links from the official accounts and the official site.
  • Wallets matter. The same source says using a wallet that does not understand inscriptions is a common way people lose them. Use an inscription-aware wallet and read its instructions first.
  • Numbers are snapshots. Floor prices and volume figures on marketplaces are a moment in time, not audited financials.
  • The project's claim: it says its own marketplace is the only authorized place to trade the collection. Read the details on the official site yourself.
